The Jim, Easton and Sir NinjaPirateMonkey forged ahead of me and went up to Elkmont yesterday to begin the first camping of the season.  I was happy to have a night on my own, as it was pretty relaxing.  However, tonight I’m packing up the twin air mattresses, a change of clothes, the air pump, some hot dogs and whole grain chips and I’m heading up to Elkmont to join the boys for an evening of campery.  Before I head up, I’m thinking about stopping at the Fresh Market to see if they have Ezekial Hot Dog buns. (Here’s a hopin!)  Uli Bear is going to spend the night at a sleep over with her pals Ginny and Trixie and their lovely parents of course.  I however, funny as this may sound, am going to the fabulous Belleza VIBE to get my hair did and then I’ll be up in the wilderness ruining it.  Oh well, such is life.  I shall report back soon.

Epilogue – we survived, it was fun, we will do it again.

To borrow a song chorus from The Bus Boys, “The Boys Are Back In Town!”  So, everyone can take a break from their CNN watch for missing campers.  All four who went, returned – from what I know…apparently Rob was only there on Friday night and I hope he got back safe.  Friday night, the camped at Round Mountain and said it was really great and clean even with the lack of running water bathrooms.  The four boys shacked up in our larger tent (we have two), went bare bones with hot dogs and foil made burgers.  Apparently the wood was problematic on the first night, but they managed well.  Per reports, there was snoring and noises at night; as well as a mystery animal that brushed by the tent.  No one was eaten so we’re good!

Saturday brought the restlessness so the boys packed up the campsite and headed to the Smoky Mountains to camp at Balsam Mountain – high up!  Jim seemed to like this site better than J & Please Feed The Monkeys.   He reported it was nice and cool.  He’s now showered and heading for a nap, since anyone familiar with camping realizes that a good night sleep is hard to come by.  On night two, the wood worked fine though even with some reportedly annoying campers nearby who don’t understand the 10 PM quiet rule.

All in all, the Jim reports a great trip and happy to have had less nagging from me for a few days.  Bare bone, boys and no Brokeback.  The women have already voiced their interest in a solid family camping experience for September…we shall see!

Welcome To Our “Home”

Okay, so it sounds more elaborate than it really is right? This is our little slice of internet nonsense, which basically is our on-going effort to keep our friends and family up-to-date on our lives, our love and our continuing pursuit of pomegranates. In this modern age of movement, we’ve realized that distance is not an excuse to not keep everyone posted, so please - stop by anytime - in person or internet-ly and know that you are all never far from our thoughts.
