That headline, is how I/we spent yesterday. It was a tad too busy for my liking, but we got everything done we said we would…let me recap.
I am helping to teach PATH classes (Parents as Tender Healers), in Carter County…waaaay out in the country for me in Elizabethton, Tennessee which actually is a quaint town. It’s a huge class, with a lot of hopeful kinship parents out there so I’m hoping it will be well worth my long travels for 6 weeks. Best thing for me, other than the satisfaction of inspiring and training people toward being Foster Parents (hopefully of teens), is the fact that other parts of town have different eating choices. This Saturday, I chose PAL’s and remembered to order my hot dogs without the “chili”. Yum. A long drive both ways, but a great opportunity to finally listen to my audio book of Kitchen Confidential…so I am not about to complain.
After arriving back home, the Jim and I went to a co-worker’s church to be supportive and sit for a photo session. Jim and I have never had an “official portrait” taken, and I must admit even with sitting for these – I will probably ask someone like the candid and crafted Mr. Crabtree or someone of his caliber to give us a full photo shoot once, I have dropped a few pounds and reclaimed my jawline (yeesh). Still, we were glad to do it and hopeful that at least 1 shot will be suitable for the obligatory Christmas card this year…we’ll keep you all posted.
Lastly, we drove even more to see E-Fred (another of Anna’s coworkers), suit up and play for the Knoxville Knights (an alliance league football team). A couple of cool points are that he’s number 42 (which for any fellow geek-ster he’s wearing the meaning of life number), and it’s a chance for people who never went pro, but were good football players to keep on playing. A couple of low points are that the home field for the KNOXVILLE Knights happens to be at Sweetwater High School this year…a bit outside of Knoxville don’t you think? Their competition last night, only had 4 additional men on the sideline for standby…if the Knights had actually taken one of the men out of the game, they might have had to forfeit. The “Knight Fever” dance team is…wow…um…lacking. 4 Girls who are in desperate need of a choreographer. I found the whole experience funny, which I’ll blog more about as one of my “Born Up North, Dye Down South” experiences, but we left around the end of the 3rd quarter with the Knights up by somewhere around 40 points or so…we felt confident they’d win.
Lastly, we ended at Tomo for Midnight sushi and my reality that I was exhausted. All in all a very good, but very busy Saturday.

Okay, so it sounds more elaborate than it really is right? This is our little slice of internet nonsense, which basically is our on-going effort to keep our friends and family up-to-date on our lives, our love and our continuing pursuit of pomegranates. In this modern age of movement, we’ve realized that distance is not an excuse to not keep everyone posted, so please - stop by anytime - in person or internet-ly and know that you are all never far from our thoughts.
