INSULIN AND ACCOMPLISHMENT   Leave a comment

After a good night’s sleep and doggies who realize that 4 AM is not the time to wake us up for ‘outside’. I woke up, got the “kids” outside and fed them breakfast. While all that is not too impressive for anyone…what was impressive was that I for the first time in probably 2 years actually gave our diabetic kitty Iris-Pants her insulin shot! Successfully! I’m the girl who can’t give shots, which is one thing that holds me back from being a nurse (well, that and my inability to deal with feces). However, today I just set my mind to having to do this and do it successfully. The Jim’s been doing it for almost 3 years now and he’s a pro. It litterally takes him just a few seconds every morning. I just woke up, got the needle, concentrated, filled the needle, called for Iris who seems to know she needs it every morning, grabbed the skin to find a good place, in push and DONE! She looks plucky so, I actually think I got it right. Woohoo!
