I’m keeping this family blog entry short. I’m working with 5 hours of sleep and I’m too tired to go into a ton of giddy detail. I will say that we had a good weekend complete with:
1) New Red Couch (not really new per se);
2) New York Pizza (I love it);
3) Successful Anime Club for the kiddo we care about;
4) The Oscars.
I love the Oscars. It’s glitz and glamour and the “pretty side” of Hollywood. I love watching it even if it’s boring.
I did – however, have 1 moment during the Oscars that made me jump off my feet and scream with glee. When “Falling Slowly,” one of the songs from ONCE (an amazing film), actually won the Oscar.
So well deserved and such an HONEST song.
If you haven’t seen ONCE.
Do.
Nothing exceptionally new here other than Jim’s sickness has some new developments. The coughing was increasing over the weekend to the point of unbearable for him. Yesterday, he gets in to see his doctor who joyfully clears up the confusion… “You have bronchitis, non-contagious conjunctivits and walking pneumonia.” WOW. A tri-fecta of utter craptacularness! As you all know, without treatment…the boogie-woogie flu is not far behind.
So, now Jim is taking more antibiotics than USDA chickens. Hopefully he’s starting to be on the mend. We shall see…I’m groggy from being up late last night with a barfing puppy and a cold-induced-snoring husband so “please forgive me, if I act a little strange”.
On the Dance happiness front – most of you know that I love Dancing with the Stars. Well, last night they announced the lineup and my 2 favorites at first blush are (believe it or not), PENN JILLETTE of Penn & Teller and Priscilla Presley! Although I must admit, I’m looking forward to the re-emergence of Steve Guttenberg (where’s he been?). Look…even if you don’t like DWTS you should tune in for PENN’s sake if you’re a fan of his. It’s sure to be interesting!
The jury is still out on this one for me…but I do want to say that getting CLOSER to others is not a bad thing at all – it just involves taking some risks.
Truth is, that connection – true connection, I think is something that all of us struggle with in this age of 1001 ways to communicate and connect. How many of us know our neighbor’s names? How many of us connect to our communities in a meaningful way? I guess I don’t know.
AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT…I just want to say that I really did enjoy going to a church where The Beatles “All You Need Is Love” is one of the choir’s offerings, and one of the readings today was from Eric Idle. That’s my dear friends is FAB.
Well, knock on the particle-board IKEA desk-let that I’m sitting at right now and know that I still have not yet caught the cold that seems to be plaguing my husband. Just how that’s possible – I don’t know. I am taking echinacea every day and a multi-vitamin…and I’m praying that’ll be enough.
Truth is, that there is a huge “crud” sickness infecting what seems to be most of the East Tennessee community. School’s have closed at times because everyone’s been ill. Every day, someone new seems to be coughing, hacking, sneezing and/or wheezing.
In the meantime – I’m going to take a ton of Vitamin C and hit the hay! Hope you and yours are avoiding the “crud” too!
Well, here I sit after a weekend of not doing too much. Good thing = I’m not sick. Bad thing = Jim is. All I want to do is NOT get it. I’m done with colds for the year. At least I better be.

Okay, so it sounds more elaborate than it really is right? This is our little slice of internet nonsense, which basically is our on-going effort to keep our friends and family up-to-date on our lives, our love and our continuing pursuit of pomegranates. In this modern age of movement, we’ve realized that distance is not an excuse to not keep everyone posted, so please - stop by anytime - in person or internet-ly and know that you are all never far from our thoughts.
