I like U2.  Have since I first heard the Joshua Tree.  Didn’t fall headlong in love with them until Rattle and Hum (which for a teenage girl – was a revelation).  Both Jim and I got to see them on the ZOO TV tour (different cities, same feeling of being moved by the experience).  So, when I heard that they were doing an IMAX 3-D experience movie…I decided I needed to go.  I put the call out to my people…and they responded.  We were happily joined by the amah-zing Randall, his fab wife Becky and “The Boy/aka/Big Sir”.  We met up and had a yummy meal of asian-goodness at Stir-Fry Cafe – followed by the main event.  U2 3D.

Now – It is an all out concert film…but it is stunning; and it reminded me of some things I thought I had lost:

1) Music can make you “feel”.  It can make you feel moved, inspired or whatever.

2) Music can remind you of those times when you were young (and your heart was an open book – sorry, lapsed into Wings there), and you actually felt like you could change the world.

3) 3D can be a subtle and still catch you off guard in a surprisingly wonderful way.  Remember how you felt like you thought you COULD step into the picture on your viewmaster?  Wow…yeah.

If you like U2 – you’ll love this movie…I liked it mostly because I like U2…but I tell you this – connecting with good friends and family to see a good film can make all the difference.

P.S. Thanks to Randall, Becky and “TB/BS” for joining us…and we DEFINITELY must do it again soon.  Here’s hoping that something in that movie inspires two intelligent young-ones to do something spectacular.  We so know they are capable!  Thanks again for going!

Parenthood is not as easy as it looks. I only say this because it seems like every star in the tabloids is pregnant and a lot of my friends are too…which is awesome, but those of us – who decided to take the non-traditional route to parenthood before becoming parents in the traditional sense, well…we’re flying by the seat of our pants and just trying to keep up!

This week we finally got the kiddo approved to attend school. We enrolled him on the 9th and it took 1 whole week for his old high school to actually provide information that his new high school needed for him to begin classes. The lag time made us (specifically Jim and I), pretty angry. Look, if there is a 16 year old who actually wants to go to school and be successful…why hold him up? Plus with NCLB, wouldn’t you want someone on your roster who’s getting good grades? Anyway…he’s finally in school and apparently likes his classes, so that is a good thing. All I know is, when I was in high school – I would have loved to take Theatre Arts too.

On Friday night: Jim, the kiddo, Chris and Maria took in a viewing of Cloverfield which they reportedly liked quite a bit and has sent the kiddo headlong into the search for all the viral marketing campaigns that have been produced for this film. He fits right in -o bsessive to the core. I decided no bloodletting for me and went to see 27 Dresses with my friend Amy (who hopefully is going to buy a house in our neighborhood). It was sweet but if you want the full review – you have to check out my other blog “Musings of a Muse”. The link is on the links page.

Saturday night we did the ultimate “cool” guaridan’s thing…okay, perhaps not ULTIMATE, but still cool.  We had the kiddo invite a few good friends over for video gaming, movies and the like for a low-key par-tay.  So, he made the contacts and 9 friendly teens showed up.  So, our home-theatre-gaming-room was overrun by 10 teenagers – who amazingly were respectful, well-mannered and typically silly.  Jim provided the occasional “check ins” as we were relegated to the upstairs (like the Hunchback of Notre Dame); and I cooked up a storm providing the standard bowls of chips with the added delight of 40 pizza bagel bites and seemingly a gazillion chicken nuggets.  I even managed to make some “chick-nuggets” for the very sweet vegan, Miss K.  All in all it went super well.

While we are by no means in the running for guardians of the year – I think things are going quite well.  Ask me in 3 months when I’ve lost all my hair from ripping it out, and Jim’s stuck in a fetal position when the four-legged kids cough up Anna hair-balls because…you know…they eat everything.

Welcome To Our “Home”

Okay, so it sounds more elaborate than it really is right? This is our little slice of internet nonsense, which basically is our on-going effort to keep our friends and family up-to-date on our lives, our love and our continuing pursuit of pomegranates. In this modern age of movement, we’ve realized that distance is not an excuse to not keep everyone posted, so please - stop by anytime - in person or internet-ly and know that you are all never far from our thoughts.

P.S. If we use a picture and you don't want us to, just let us know...we will happily take it down with no problem. We're just two schlubs and mean no harm. Thanks.
